Introduction
This is a series of 14 audio/visual modules designed to provide an overview of key topics in the practice of mental health care in the pediatric clinic. The modules run 15-25 minutes each. Find the videos in the dropdown boxes below for each chapter, starting with Chapter 1: Conceptual Framework.
Credit
We are now offering AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for 14 modules through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

American Board of Pediatrics: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 4.25 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

- Recognize the various depressive disorders and outline strategies for assessing depression symptoms and severity- module 8
- Discuss the role of medication and therapy in treatment of depression -module 9
- Explain how to start, continue and stop SSRIs for depression- module 9
- List symptom areas amenable to pharmacologic treatment and outline benefits and risks of atypical antipsychotic medications- module 10
- Identify less-commonly used medications for depression and anxiety and indications associated with antipsychotic medications- module 11
- Administer, interpret, and follow up on suicide screening instruments- module 12
- Apply risk stratification strategies to guide care in child or adolescent with a positive suicide screen and outline elements of safety planning- module 12
- Describe the ways in which coercive interaction cycles and ineffective supervision contribute to children’s behavioral problems and list some parent management training techniques- module 13
- Recognize core principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and identify key components of CBT- module 14
CME Certificates
To obtain your AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ certificate, at the completion of this activity, please follow these steps:
- Sign into the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine’s Office of CME’s website: www.cme.northwestern.edu using the email and password used to register for this activity. *First time users see below.
- Click on “My CME” on the top right-hand side of the homepage.
- Click on “Evaluation & Certificate”. Choose the activity for which you wish to evaluate and claim credit. You will be asked to enter the number of credits you are claiming which should reflect the extent to which you participated in the activity.
- Upon completion of the activity evaluation, your certificate will auto-generate. Please print or save a copy for your records. All credits, including MOC points, received from participation in Northwestern University CME activities will be reflected on your transcript, which can be accessed anytime under MyCME Transcript.
- You must fill out an evaluation to receive a certificate. The evaluation will no longer be available after June 8, 2028 (11:59 p.m.).
